What is the Proper Volume for Earbuds or Headphones?

Are your earbuds your earbesties? If so, this post is for you.

Did you know that there was a proper volume for earbuds or headphones? Listening to music too loudly can damage your hearing by injuring the tiny hairs located in your inner ear. These hairs vibrate every time you hear a noise, and they cannot be repaired once they’ve been damaged.

When jamming out to music at those silent discos, it’s important to remember the 60/60 rule. Keep the volume no higher than 60% for no longer than 60 minutes. You’ll be much less likely to receive hearing damage if you follow the 60/60 rule.

If you are cranking up that music, there are a few signs to look out for when it comes to hearing loss. Firstly, if you hear ringing, buzzing, hissing, or clicking in your ears, you may be experiencing hearing loss. Another sign for hearing loss is muffled or stifled sounds. Thirdly, if you feel yourself constantly having to turn up the volume to hear, you may be experiencing hearing loss. Lastly, if crowded rooms or busy restaurants make it difficult to hear conversations near you, this may be a sign that your hearing is going.

Now you know how to properly protect those ears against loud music that can damage your hearing. ChEARs!
